In this project, I dived into the world of speculative design. Within the theme of urban futures, I speculatively responded to the current sexual street harassment topic in Rotterdam.
From contextual and literature research, I identified government regulation and polarization as potential underlying forces in this social issue. Eventually, I designed a provocative cap that could exist in a speculative future in which the government wants to strictly control the polarizing opinions around the sexual street harassment problem. In my future scenario, the municipality of Rotterdam forces all citizens to wear this cap on the streets to ensure that only théir well-intentioned, but shortsighted contribution is proclaimed; one voice for all to solve the problem.
The aim of my designed artifact was to demonstrate a probable, undesirable future to the current citizens of Rotterdam to let them think about the way they personally relate to the current sexual street harassment situation in Rotterdam.
