Although artificial intelligence is increasingly changing the world we live in, for most of us AI is a rather abstract and intangible concept. This project evolved around the challenge of how can we understand and communicate the future of AI through design and prototyping. What can or should be the role of AI in our daily lives?
We created The Shell, an immersive installation in which people can experience a future scenario. In this experiential space, visitors can explore how it would feel like as a future citizen to attend a compulsory yearly check-in in the town hall, in which an AI evaluated and predicted their life based on the topic community, purpose and wellbeing. By creating a future experience like this, we aimed to encourage people to be resilient in their interactions with AI by making them think about the degree to which they trust AI and why.
This project is a result of the Design for Interaction master course 'Interactive Technology Design' - awarded with a 8.5/10
